UH - 0H

Okay.  I don't know what happened.  Just earlier today, I saw that Willie was following my blog (yay, Willie, thank you!).  Somebody graciously had pointed out that I needed to enable the feature.  So I did.  Or at least I thought so.  I mean, Willie's photo was there on my blog page and everything.  Now it's not there.  But when I go to the dashboard, it still says I have one follower.

Did I mess something up?

Another question I have is about comments.  In my previous blogs, I had to choose whether to approve new commenters or not.  That's not the case this time, it appears.  It's strange, because just last night I logged in to blogger, checked to see if I had any comments, and it said I didn't.  The dashboard said the same thing.  But then today in my email inbox, I had notifications about comments on my blog that were dated Sunday and Monday.  Does this make sense to anybody?  Do you know how I can choose to moderate comments?  I mean, I love each and every comment I've received thus far, but you never know if a spam or nasty/rude comment may just sneak its way in.

Well, in the meantime, I'll keep trying to figure it out.  I've got to get my Willie back!

  1. Okay. So I copied and pasted your blog address into my dashboard on the left hand side. It says Add . Above all the blogs I read. I guess that is how I followed you before you had a blog followers thing.

As for your comments, you have that ( ahem, annoying..lol) thing that makes us type in a set of numbers and letters to post our comments. You of course would not know this if you weren't in your settings section, because you never have to do that as the blog owner. To change this go into your settings on you dashboard. Under settings I think it says posts and comments. Click on that and then there is a moderation thing you can choose what you like.

As for the notifications....blogger messes that up ALL the time for me too.

Hope that helps. You know where to find me if you have any questions.

  2. Hi again Unnamed!

I get to be your 2nd follower!! I'm so glad you added that button - it really does make it easier for people to find you again. :)

Good luck with working out all the little details - nice thing is, you can change things up anytime you learn something new. Most people's blogs are always evolving.

Willie (and also Maryanne) are super at helping with any and all questions - as well as giving LOTS & LOTS of loving advice.

Oh, and the little letter & number thingy can be super tricky (I think) for those of us who have a touch of dyslexia - it can take us several tries to get it right, lol.

    1. I've found that little letter & number thingy to be tricky (and annoying!), too. Thanks for the support -- and for being my 2nd follower! I'm slowly learning to navigate this thing called blogger, thanks to the help of the new friends I'm making here. Once I've got the comments thing down, I want to add blogs to my blogroll and be a follower of some blogs myself! So before too long, you should see me on your 'followers' list :)

  3. Hi again UnNamed! I can't answer your specific questions because I use wordpress (much more user-friendly!), but I hear that blogger has a lot of glitches and issues. Not fun! However, the world won't come to an end if you answer comments a little bit later. Most of us could probably use some more time away from the computer, anyway. :D

Glad to see you're popping around the blogs. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

  4. I probably won't follow you but I have you in my blog roll so you'll see me a bunch for sure :)

I can't answer any techy questions. I am technically challenged.

  5. P.S. Here are instructions I've posted on how to remove captcha. That's the number/letter verification thing that makes it hard to leave comments. Let me know if you need help.

    1. You are too kind, Irish Lucky. I am, indeed, in great company -- thank you; I am honored :)

Once I figure out how to follow people, you'll be seeing me on your page!

  7. Hi Unnamed,

I wish I could answer techy questions, but my usual response is to go ask Willie. It does get easier to figure out once you get going. Welcome to the wonderful world of moody blogger. :)

  8. Hi Unnamed! :) So I can help you to understand moderation of comments.

    In blogger, click on settings.

Look below and you will see Posts and Comments

    Click on that.

Then look to the right and you will see Comment Moderation.

    Click Always.

Then there is a box where you put the email that you want the requests to go to.

Fill in the email of your choice.

And save. That should do it. Welcome and hope that that helps! If not, feel free to let me know and I will help further! :)

    1. Thank you, dear Irishey! Have you given any thought to my question about how to coax you off your deserted isle???

      Delete
    2. Yes, I have thunk it thru. ;-)
My little blog isle is deserted by me. I left it to come play over here, and there! I don't wanna go back... yet!

Truly and seriously, thank you for asking. That made my day - twice!

I hope it starts feeling like fun, or pulls at me, or something. Right now, the thought of blogging routinely feels draining and burdensome. That sounds more melodramatic than it is - perhaps it's more a feeling of writer's block or futile boredom with the things it occurs to me to write about. Lol!

I'll keep an eye out for opportunities to mini-blog my comments on your blog! Holler at me if you don't see me for awhile. My Google is mad at me - I think because I don't like to play the Google+ game, so I lose notifications/update quite frequently. Pfft!

      Hugs!

    3. You just take however much time you need, dear Irishey. In the meantime, yes......let's have fun here and there. There are some really great friends here to play with! Reminds me of an ooooold song. You might be too young to know it?

Playmate, come out and play with me
      And bring your dolly three
      Climb up my apple tree
      Slide down my rain barrel
      Slide down my cellar door
And we'll be jolly friends forevermore

My mama taught me that song :)

I'm so glad you didn't think I was pestering you. Come mini-blog over here any time you want.

      Hugs!

    4. I know it well! Let me show my age with another of my own mama's favorites to sing to little girl me...

      Oh, mares eat oats
      And does eat oats
      And little lambs eat ivy
      A kid'll eat ivy, too
      Wouldn't you?

    5. Now if the words sound queer
      and funny to your ear
A little bit jumbled and jivy
      Say "mares eat oats
      and does eat oats
      and little lambs eat iiiivvvvyyyyy.............
OH........(really fast now) mares eat oats
      And does eat oats
      And little lambs eat ivy
      A kid'll eat ivy, too
      Wouldn't you?

My father used to sing that to me all the time when I was little.....You just made me smile from ear to ear and my heart leapt with joy!

It would appear we just may be kindred spirits, my friend :)

    6. Oh, p.s. and the one nearest and dearest to my heart, that I sang to all my kiddos......

      You are my sunshine
      My only sunshine
      You make me happy
      When skies are gray
      You'll never know, dear
      How much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

      Lordy, Lordy, I'm on a roll.....lol.

    7. Lol! I sang Sunshine to my kids, too. :-)

Hoooow MUCH is that doggy in the window...

Oh! Do you recall this from when we were kids?

I've got a brand new pair of roller skates
You've got a brand new key...

Wow. Memory Lane sure is long...ago! ;-)

    8. I wish that we could get together
And try them on to see
I've been looking around the world
      You got somethin' for me
Oh, I got a brand new pair of rollerskates
You got a brand new key

Hey, seeing as how we're singing all over the blogosphere.....maybe we should think of rounding up a chorus! Think anybody'd want to join us???

    9. Lol! Maybe, but I can't carry a tune! :-)

    10. Ah, that doesn't matter -- you've got the spirit, and that's way more important! :)
